Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
Hebrews 4:13
‘Anyone who has ever looked at their face in a super-magnified mirror, most likely didn’t like what it revealed. What is usually hidden from the world, looks enormous and more than a little obvious when magnified. High-powered mirrors don’t reveal anything new; they simply magnify what is already there but is unseen by the world. Looking into a regular mirror, we look pretty good, but the magnification reveals the not-so-beautiful things we don’t like to see. And we certainly don’t want anyone else to see them, either.
That’s how God sees us—nothing is hidden. Every unflattering trait we manage to hide from the world, He sees super-magnified. Each unkind thought, and all pride, greed, selfishness, rage, bitterness, grudges, dishonesty, and jealousy we think are hidden, are bigger than life in God’s eyes. He sees everything: all that’s out-in-the-open and all that’s hidden. He sees with perfect clarity every ugly detail we want covered up. And unlike most people in our lives, He isn’t fooled by any of the masks we wear or anything else we do to hide our imperfections.
The good news is that Jesus loves you no matter what you try to hide and regardless of your masks that fool others. But He loves you far too much to let you continue to hide the “real” you that He knows so well. He calls you to a life of authenticity and transparency. He calls you to integrity—to live on your outside what is on your inside. Living in this world that focuses on appearance makes it hard to be real, but Jesus wants you to be real so others can see the real HIM! Would a blind person “see” your beauty and experience Jesus in your presence? If not, it’s time to take a good look at your flaws through God’s Truth. Start spending more time in God’s Word than you do making yourself physically presentable each day. Because whatever is holding your heart is directing your life. So be sure that heart of yours is in God’s own hands. When you live without hiding your flaws and let people see who holds your heart, you will simply magnify what is already there—Jesus Himself! And He will always be your most beautiful feature! You are loved!
