And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28. Tucked into one of the most powerful chapters in the entire Bible, is one of God’s most comforting promises:

●“And we know…” We KNOW! We don’t just think or assume or pray that it’s true; we KNOW! This is unequivocal, absolute truth, so there’s no reason to doubt.

●“that in all things…” Not in just a few things, not most things or some things, but in ALL things. The good things and the bad things, our joys and our sorrows.

●“God works…” God is ACTIVE, He is involved, and He is constantly working behind the scenes of our days and our nights, weaving each of our stories perfectly with His.

●“for the good…” Not to make us happy, nor for our pleasure. Not to control us, but to benefit us. Everything that happens to us is not always good, but God promises to work even the bad things for our good.

●“of those who love him…” Not everyone, but those who love God. And when we love God, we join His story, we become part of His perfect plan, and His victory becomes our own.

●“who have been called…” We know God because He called us to Himself, and we said “Yes” to that call. When we stepped out in faith to take His hand, we accepted His invitation.

●“according to his purpose.” Not according do our dreams of wealth or fame, not according to our own plans that are self-serving, but for HIS purpose, His plans, and His Kingdom.

God is working in every detail of your life, every day of your life. In your mistakes and your sorrows, your joys and your celebrations, your wins and your losses. He is using every circumstance to shape your heart, mature your faith, and develop your character. He knows what He’s doing. After all, He wrote your story and knows every chapter. Trust Him! You are loved!
