So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect.

Acts 19:20

One might even say, it had a RIPPLE effect. If you’ve ever thrown a rock into a lake or a pond, you have seen its effect: ripples that flow from the entry point of the rock outward. The bigger the rock, the greater the ripples. The rock doesn’t need to touch the water surrounding where it disappears beneath the surface to have an impact on the water around it.

God’s Word creates powerful ripples, too. When it is shared by believers, when it is thrown into conversations, tossed onto social media, and lived out in powerful ways right out in public, it creates ripples. Ripples that heal hearts, restore relationships, end addictions, and transform lives. Ripples that move with such force in people’s lives, the enemy has no chance of staying afloat.

We have been given a great gift! It is by far the greatest gift of all time! We have a personal relationship with our Creator. We have been given life, an eternity we don’t deserve, one we couldn’t earn on our own. And because we have been given so much, much is expected. (Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities! Luke 12:48 MSG) We are to live out our gifts, to be generous, and to share what we have. And we have a Savior who calls us His very own.

The Word of God has an energy and a life all its own. It has the power to launch the love of God, the grace of God, and the compassion of God into the world to create countless ripples that will never end. But first, you need to throw the stones! If you join forces, as the disciples joined forces, all those ripples will move outward and intersect with the ripples of many others.

Isn’t that just how life is—a whole lot of lives influencing and impacting and intersecting countless others? So go throw some “stones”! Make some ripples, and watch what God can do! You are loved!
