Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.
Hebrews 12:2 (GNT)
The Bible is the most unique and bestselling book of all time. Originally written in three different languages, each translation contains hundreds of thousands of words and thousands of fascinating characters that helped shape the history of God’s people—the history that led to each one of us. The Bible is made up of 66 separate books that tell the most beautiful, seamless story the world has ever known. It is part epic adventure, part passionate love story. It has forty writers from three continents and a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. Shepherds, kings, fishermen, prophets, a military general, and many more ordinary people were inspired by God to tell His story—a story that spans over 4000 years.
God planned history long before it began. He dreamed you up and created you for your exact place and your exact purpose in history. You were not an accident but were planned before time began, and though your story blends with countless others, it is unique and intentional and remarkably beautiful. The question is, who is the main character in the story of your life? God or you? Living in a country that encourages selfishness, independence, and comparison makes it hard to set aside your human emotions and desires and focus on His, but that is exactly what He wants you to do. He is saying, “Put your pen down! I am the Author of your story!” And when God writes your story, there are no eraser marks, and there are no rewrites, because your whole story was written long, long ago. When you “put your pen down”, you are surrendering your life and your plans to the One who created you.
Each chapter of your story is filled with character development, a few twists and turns, and even a few battles. There will probably be a lot of drama, times of suffering, and a fair amount of heartache. But like all best-sellers, it is also rich with adventure and joy, hope and love. Every powerful story has many chapters and ends with a beautiful, heart-filling, happy ending. Yours however, as a follower of Christ, has no ending—just an eternity of beautiful, heart-filling, and happy! He gives you life forever. Are you willing to trust God with the entire storyline? Hand Him the pen! You are loved!
Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny. Ecclesiastes 6:10
