We who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.

Hebrews 6:18-19

Some days it’s hard to focus on the goodness of our God when everywhere we look, there are gut-wrenching tragedies. It seems we can barely catch our breath between the shootings and destruction of property and horrific storms that take lives and leave people homeless. Our hearts feel shattered, and all those splinters tear and sting. And for some, because the “storms” never stop, the faith never takes hold. And on top of everything else, this pandemic feels like it will never end, and our normal seems like a thing of the past.
But Jesus is there! He’s holding the hands of the hated, the hurting, and the hopeless. Even though the storms come, He’s the anchor that holds us steady. He’s the hope that never changes. When our fear only sees the hate and loss and heartache, our hope sees the healing, the rescues, and the love. When our hearts are heavy with suffering, our souls still sing His praises. We can find peace even when things feel out of control, because our perfect, holy God never is.
When the world feels chaotic, when you feel stressed and afraid, Jesus is right there holding your hand. When sorrow feels heavy, He carries your burden so you aren’t crushed by their weight. When you can’t find the words to pray, just sit with Him, your heart with His. Trust Him with each storm that comes, because they will pass—but He never will. No matter how dark things seem, even in the darkest rooms on cloudy days through broken windows, God’s light still gets in! So hold tight, stay anchored, keep shining. And don’t forget to pray! You are loved!

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13
