So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.

Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

Let’s face it, everything about our culture loves perfection. But the Christian life is not about being perfect; it’s about being perfected. Perfectionism is having the belief that you are in control, that you don’t need God! It is striving for your own worthiness, and it is based on fear. Holiness, on the other hand, is based on God. Holiness means set apart, sanctified, and pure. And it is accomplished ONLY by God’s efforts and work in our lives, not by our own.

Perfectionism brings guilt; holiness brings love. Perfectionism produces self-loathing; holiness produces humility. Perfectionism performs; holiness relates. Perfectionism amplifies inadequacy; holiness magnifies grace. Perfectionism compares; holiness sets apart.

Perfectionism seeks success; holiness seeks the cross. Perfectionism responds to demands; holiness lives by faith. Perfectionism competes; holiness completes. Perfectionism is temporary; holiness is eternal. Perfectionism says, “I’m not good enough”; holiness says, “God is”

Live your life worthy of God’s call; seek His holiness, not your own perfection. Rest in His grace, free from the prison of perfectionism. You are dearly loved!

You are people who are holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the people who live on earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his own special possession.  Deuteronomy 14:2
