The Lord has made everything for his own purposes.

Proverbs 16:4

Sometimes God uses the worst to give us His best! He uses the worst illnesses and physical pain to give us His most obvious miracles of healing and restoration. He uses what many might see as the worst relationships here on earth to draw people into the best forever relationships with Him. He used the worst possible place for Mary to give birth to give us His best Gift EVER—His Son! Hallelujah and Amen! He used the worst possible injustice and suffering and death when He sent His own Son to surrender His life on that cross, to give us His best: new life, new hope, and a new eternity. He used death to give us life!
God even takes the worst parts of our personalities and redeems them for His purposes. Whatever parts of us we have the hardest time taming are often the parts that He will use the biggest when we lay them at his feet. When we give Him our misdirected, selfish anger, He gives us purpose in fighting for righteous justice in this world. When we submit our people-pleasing habit, He opens our eyes and transforms it into the desire to please Him alone. When we hand over our constant need for the approval of others, adapting our behaviors to fit in with whomever is in our company, He shows us the holes in His hands, in His feet, and reminds us that He has guaranteed the only approval that will meet us in heaven. Rather than letting us destroy ourselves and our lives with our very worst, He redeems and transforms and gives us His BEST—new life, new desires, and new purpose.
Life is hard for many reasons, but you can definitely make it harder by holding tightly, and using wrongly, the personality traits that hurt you. Jesus wants to transform you—every part of you—for His purposes. He wants to take your worst and use it for His best! But He won’t fight you for it. He will wait until you get tired of tripping over your flaws, hurting yourself and others, and surrender them to Him. He gave you your personality with intention and love and purpose. Let Him use it the way He intended it to be used. Hand over your worst and ask Him to make it His best! Then open you hands, and He will hand you your purpose!

You are loved!
