“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.

Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)

The Christian life is to be an active life. It is to be lived out as Jesus lived. (Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6) When we pray, rather than asking Jesus to bless the plans we have made, or to bless our lives with more stuff, we should…

Ask Jesus for eyes like His to see others the way He sees them: without judgment, without comparison, and with an open heart filled with love. They are His children, just like us: loved, created, full of potential, and placed here for a purpose. (Through his power all things were made—things in heaven and on earth, things seen and unseen, all powers, authorities, lords, and rulers. All things were made through Christ and for Christ. Colossians 1:16 NCV)

Ask Jesus for hands like His to serve wherever they are needed; to feed the hungry, comfort the weary, and heal hearts in the process. (Matthew 25:35-40) Ask Jesus for feet like His to carry hope to those living in darkness, to take the Gospel wherever He calls, to whomever He asks you to make a disciple. (Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19)

Be an active example of Christ's love in the world. You are the eyes with which Jesus looks on the world with compassion. You are the feet with which He walks to do good. And you are the hands through which He blesses the world. Bless others and you will be blessed! You are loved!
