But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them.
People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
We have all faced rejection in some form or another. Sometimes we can brush it off. Other times, it sticks and becomes a part of who we are. When we allow it to stick, we allow shame to build a thick wall around our hearts. We strive hard for acceptance, trying to prove that we are worthy, but once rejection claims our hearts, it often feels impossible to break through the thick fortification that shields them. And no amount of striving can ever convince us that we are enough!
There is good news, though! Jesus already paid the price for those walls to be broken down when He took nails for you! He died so your heart could be open to Him, accessible and powerful for His Kingdom. If you allow shame and failure to own you, you are denying the cross, and the power of God that took Jesus from death to life.
Here’s the truth that knocks down that thick, ugly wall and replaces it with openness and freedom: You, Child of God, are loved, crowned, forgiven, complete, held, chosen, planned, adored, treasured, known, carried, safe, precious, favored, strengthened, honored, comforted, understood, defended, appreciated, made new, fought for, purified, protected, and YOU. ARE. ENOUGH!!! You don’t have to earn it or comprehend it or even “feel” it; you just have to KNOW it!!
Live there, in that place of honor and absolute acceptance and enoughness! Love from there, that place of surrender and peace! And reach from there, the ones still held in the prison of “not-good-enough”. You can show them love and introduce them to true freedom. His name is JESUS!! And He loves you more than His own life. Believe it! You are deeply loved!
