Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.

Psalm 119:18

Every day, we are blessed with the ability to see God‘s creation all around us. But even though most of us can see, our perspectives and perceptions are very different. Perspective is HOW we see. It’s the lens through which we view the world, it’s our “point of view”. Perception is WHAT we see, our interpretation, our take-away. What one person calls an argument, the other may call a passionate discussion. What one sees as introspective, another sees as standoffish. What one knows is teal, another calls aqua. What one sees as energetic, another thinks is hyperactive. What one thinks is coincidence, another recognizes as the hand of God! Perspective and perception change the whole story.

The most monumental, world-changing event in history was the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A very small minority of followers understood who He was and what His resurrection would mean to the world. His disciples watched Him live, heard Him speak, witnessed His miracles, and came to understand that He was God. But the Pharisees, who saw and heard many of the same things, had such dramatically different perceptions of our Lord and Savior, that they wanted Him hung on a cross. Their perspective blinded them to the truth.

As a follower of Jesus, you may not always know how to correctly interpret what you see in the world. Fortunately, God has graciously given His Word, because the only way to get a godly perspective, is to actually GET God’s perspective! But before His Word can penetrate your spirit, you must actually READ it! Through it, God will transform your heart and reveal to you all that it needs to know. His perspective will change more than just your perception…it will change your whole story! You are loved!
