At once Jesus felt power go out from him. So he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” His followers said, “Look at how many people are pushing against you!
And you ask, ‘Who touched me?’” But Jesus continued looking around to see who had touched him. The woman, knowing that she was healed, came and fell at Jesus’ feet. Shaking with fear, she told him the whole truth. Jesus said to her, “Dear woman, you are made well because you believed. Go in peace; be healed of your disease.”
Mark 5:30-34
Most of us hate interruptions. When we are focused on completing a task and someone disrupts our plans, we usually respond with frustration, even anger…not with love. But Jesus chose to be available for interruptions. His ministry didn’t stop because of them; He just paused. He probably got down in the dirt to meet this woman’s eyes, because this “unclean” woman, who had been unable to worship in the synagogue or even socialize for twelve years…yeah, she was worth it. She was filled with fear, but Jesus saw her faith. She was trembling, but He saw her bold determination to reach Him. So He made Himself available. He wasn’t too good to get down in the dirt with what society had overlooked.
This woman’s faith had earned her the right to be heard, and her life was forever changed. When you win the right to be heard in someone’s life, transformation happens. It begins when you show them Jesus’s heart, when you pause your plans and make room for His miracles. Who needs you to be available for an interruption? Who needs you to get down in the dirt with them and put their urgent needs above your own? Be present for the interruptions that God arranges. When you are available to be a blessing, the biggest blessing of all just might be your own. You are loved!
