Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be established.

Proverbs 4:26 (CSB)

Our feet take us in the wrong direction all the time. We mindlessly turn toward all that is shiny and new and bigger and better. We are far too easily led down paths of sin that end in shame and regret. We can claim we don’t have a map, but we have God’s Word as our guide. We can blame other people for leading us astray, but we all know right from wrong, and we understand the difference between obedience and rebellion.

We don’t have to look very hard to find the right path for our feet. We just need to keep our eyes on Jesus’ feet, and go where they went throughout the Gospels. Jesus’ feet walked along the Sea of Galilee and gathered four of those He would disciple and do life alongside (Mark 1:16-18). His feet walked through Samaria, where no Jews would dare to go, just to bring hope and salvation to a woman living in sin and shame, who then told her entire village all about Him (John 4). Jesus’ feet walked on water, not in fear of the waves, but He walked confidently and reminded Peter to keep his eyes on Him because He is always in control (Matthew 14:22-33). And His feet walked on a hill called Calvary, carrying the rough, heavy cross for His own crucifixion. Those same feet, pierced with an iron nail, bled to forgive our sins, to make us holy, to give us life (Ephesians 1:7).

You have been called to take your feet where Jesus walked—not in location, but in action. Take your feet to make disciples. Do life alongside them, love them unconditionally, and teach them all about Jesus. Take your feet where others refuse to go: to the poor, to the outcasts, to the sick, the imprisoned, and to all who need hope and salvation. Take your feet confidently wherever Jesus calls you, because whatever He calls you to, He will walk you through. He is always in control, and you have nothing to fear when you keep your eyes on Him. And take your feet to pick up your cross in obedience, and live the sacrificial life He has called you to live (Luke 9:23).  To “carefully consider the path for your feet’, just follow in Jesus’ footsteps. They lead to pure JOY! You are loved!
