All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

God-breathed! Every single verse is God’s very breath! Each exhale is perfect wisdom and absolute truth. Makes it a much bigger deal when we ponder that, doesn’t it? It has been estimated that there are more than 5 billion Bibles in the world, written in more than 2000 different languages and in a variety of versions. The Bible is not a collection of stories or fairytales or ideas that humans decided to record centuries ago. It is alive and active and judges our hearts (Hebrews 4:12) while telling one complete story. It is also our instruction manual from the One who created us. Like the manuals included in the packaging of many products we purchase, written by the designers or those most familiar with the product, the Bible teaches us. It gives us the “how-tos” of life. It walks us through our days. But unlike instruction manuals, the Bible also confronts, convicts, and shows us how to stay on the well-lit path of righteousness.

Like all instruction manuals, in order to truly understand how something works, you must actually read it! It’s awfully hard to stand on the promises of God if you have no idea what they are. The Bible will prepare you and equip you for all the good things God has planned for you in this life, as well as every trial and every challenge you will inevitably face. It will empower you and embolden you through the power of the Holy Spirit’s work in you. But it won’t happen while collecting dust on a shelf. It can’t inspire and instruct and convict while buried under a pile of books. And it certainly can’t change your heart if God’s Word, His very breath, never gets close. So open your Bible. Study it! Ask questions and dig deep. Then get ready…because your life, and your heart, are about to change big! You are loved!

The Bible is a gold mine waiting for someone to take out it’s riches.
