In your light we see light.

Psalm 36:9

Most things can only be seen in the light. If they don’t create their own light, they can only reflect the light that is around them. Without a light source, all we would see is blackness. And with only minimal light, harmless, everyday objects become eerie shapes and menacing shadows.

Our lives are like that, too. Wherever sin is present and lies are believed, whatever darkness we allow in, creates ugly, dark shadows that threaten everything that is good. In the dark, it is hard to find one’s way. Thankfully, Jesus came into the world and gave us light. (When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12) Jesus isn’t just our source of light in the world, He IS the Light of the World! And it is only in His light, that we can truly see. Because wherever the light of Christ shines, those shadows that threaten and the darkness that terrifies lose every bit of their power. In the light of Christ, everything becomes clear…

In the light of His love, we see freedom! In the light of His presence, we see peace! In the light of His sacrifice, we see relationship! In the light of His Word, we see truth! In the light of His resurrection, we see life! In the light of His Spirit, we see transformation! In the light of His hope, we see healing! In the light of His mercy, we see forgiveness! In the light of His grace, we see eternity!

In the light of your Savior, no shadows threaten, and no sin can overcome. Because within you is the very Light that came into the world to give us life. Therefore, in the light of Jesus, you have a purpose and a mission: to reflect the light of Christ everywhere you go. So go shine brightly into every dark place, so others can see the Light, too. You are loved!
