Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
Colossians 1:15-17
Every human body is made up of trillions upon trillions of tiny cells, and those cells are all held together by a protein, sort of like a “glue,” called laminin. Laminin literally holds us together! But the most fascinating thing about laminin, other than the essential role it plays in our bodies, is that when viewed under a powerful microscope, laminin looks just like a cross! Scientists may call that a “happy coincidence”, but our perfect, creative Heavenly Father is intentional about showing us who He is, and all of Creation bears His fingerprints, including US! He knit our bodies together perfectly, and we are evidence of His handiwork: evidence of His existence, His work, and His purpose. Our Savior, from before the beginning, has always been our glue!
Sometimes all we need on those days when things feel like they’re falling apart is a simple, one-word prayer: “Jesus!” One name that reminds us that He is there holding us all together. That glorious name above every other name has power (Philippians 2:9), it makes the enemy tremble (James 2:19), and it brings hope to every circumstance when we invite Him in. No matter what is going on around us at any given moment, Jesus is there, holding us together. He is the only one through whom we were created, the only one who can save us, and He will never, ever let go!
Whenever you feel like you are falling apart, when the world around you feels chaotic, remember that Jesus is the glue. He’s holding everything on the outside together and holding you together on the inside, too. Laminin is a fascinating picture of God’s creativity and brilliance, but the most beautiful picture of the love and grace of Jesus on earth is YOU! You shine His light in dark places. You lift others up when they have lost hope. And you point others to our Savior by the way you live and love in this world. Let your life reflect the evidence of Jesus’ existence, His work, and His purpose! People will surely see His fingerprints all over it! You are loved!
