Come and see.
Matthew 28:6
The resurrection story is not an “Easter only” kind of story. It is why we believe! It is why we live on mission for Jesus. We all know the story, but sometimes our faith still feels weak. We doubt, we wonder, we forget. And we pursue our own paths and glory and independence. But the angel at the entrance to the empty tomb? He simply invited; he encouraged to “come and see.”
When your faith feels thin, that’s when you must dig deeper! That is when you can either search for understanding or walk away from God. Because often the only difference between those who follow and those whose faith fades away, is that the followers “come and see”.
Come and see how Jesus entered into this world willingly, stepping out of the heavenly realm of love and peace and everlasting joy, and into the pain and suffering of this world. Come and see how Jesus lived His life in the pursuit of others, how He loved, how He served, not for Himself, but for everyone else. Come and see what Jesus did when wrecked with anguish, how He cried out to God in prayer for the strength to follow His Father’s will. Come and see how Jesus lived in the moment, never rushing, never frantic or distracted, but wholly focused on His mission to love and to seek and to save. Come and see that Jesus’ words, His heart, His story, and His mission are clearly written for all to see throughout the Gospels, given by God so you can seek, you can investigate, and you can know His heart. Come and see the measure of Jesus’ love for you, His willingness to take your sins upon Himself and carry them to the cross to give you life. Come and see Jesus’ lifeless body, with holes through His hands and His feet, bloody and beaten and empty, placed in a tomb generously given by a secret follower. Then, come and see that empty tomb. Come and see that the risen Lord Jesus LIVES!
So yeah, after you come and see…GO and DO!! Serve Jesus with the same passion and mission with which He saved you! You are loved!
