But I do not need bulls from your stalls or goats from your pens, because every animal of the forest is already mine. The cattle on a thousand hills are mine.

I know every bird on the mountains, and every living thing in the fields is mine

Psalm 50:9-11 (NCV)

It’s that time of year when most of us are rushing around, frantically trying to get ready to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Yes, it’s ironic, but we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to find the perfect gifts and make Christmas special and memorable for those we love. We want to honor them with just the right thing that says they are important to us, they are known, and they are loved. So we rush around and search and panic a little. We check our lists, buy and wrap our surprises and put them under our trees. Then we wait with eager anticipation. We love blessing others on Christmas, but since we are celebrating the birth of Jesus, perhaps we should be considering what we could give HIM this Christmas! What do you give the God who has everything?? His Word has all the answers. (Look them up!)

You give Him food for the hungry (Matthew 25:40). You give Him compassion for the helpless (Luke 6:36). You give Him kindness when others offend you (Matthew 5:39). You give Him hope for the imprisoned (Hebrews 13:3). You give Him your heart that seeks the lost (Luke 19:10).

You give Him gratitude for every good thing (James 1:17). You give Him comfort for the lonely (Psalm 34:18). You give Him patience for those who are hard to love (2 Timothy 2:24). You give Him your focus by taking your eyes off of yourself (Philippians 2:4). You give Him love for others (John 15:12). You give Him your time for His purposes (Matthew 6:33). You give Him your trust (Proverbs 3:5). You give Him your heart to shape just like His (Isaiah 64:8). You give Him all of yourself, because He gave all just for you (1 Peter 2:24). You give Him your praise (Psalm 150:6). You give Him your worship, and stand in His presence (Psalm 100:2). You give Him your relationships that they may honor Him (2 Corinthians 6:14). And you give Him your obedience (John 14:15).

When you give Jesus these good gifts this Christmas, they say that He is important to you, they say that He is known, and they say that He is loved. And after you give these good gifts to your Savior, wait with eager anticipation. Because Jesus will definitely be honored, but the blessings that come pouring down will be yours! You are loved!
